This Iced Oat Chai Latte is your new go-to when you want something café-style but simple enough to shake together at home in a few minutes. It starts with a quick homemade chai concentrate: black tea simmered with cardamom, clove, cinnamon, fresh ginger, and just enough sugar for gentle sweetness.
Once the spices have had time to infuse and the mixture cools in the fridge, you’re already most of the way to an iced latte. All you do is pour the chilled chai over ice, then top it with frothed oat milk for a creamy, plant-based finish. Shaking the oat milk in a jar gives you a light, foamy texture without any special equipment, which makes this drink feel a little bit fancy without adding extra work.
The flavour is all about balance: warming spices from the cardamom, cinnamon, clove, and ginger; gentle tannins from the black tea; and that mellow, slightly toasty creaminess oat milk is known for. Because you’re making the chai base yourself, you can easily adjust it to your taste. Use a bit more ginger if you like extra heat, or reduce the sugar if you prefer a less sweet sip.
This iced chai is also flexible around your routine. Make a small batch just for today, or double the chai base so it’s ready in the fridge for quick mid-week pick-me-ups. Pour it into a reusable cup for a sunny-day walk, serve it as a fun afternoon drink, or pair it with a snack for a coffee-shop moment at home. Compared with buying a daily café drink, this version is easier on your budget and lets you control the ingredients while still feeling like an intentional treat.
