4 Chicken Farmers Share Favourite Dinner Recipes

There are about 2,800 chicken farms across Canada. These farmers raise fresh, high-quality chicken that is served on tables across the country. Farmers take their responsibilities very seriously in terms of animal care, food safety and sustainability of the environment on and around their farms. There’s also nothing better than enjoying the chicken they’ve raised with their own families.

Meet four different chicken farmers from Saskatchewan and find out their favourite chicken recipes!

Keet Family

Patrick and Sonja Keet and their four children make their home on a chicken farm in central Saskatchewan. Patrick says, “the best part of farming is working with my family at home. I enjoy producing food, not only for consumers but for my family.”

Sonja and Patrick enjoy cooking with chicken. With four kids, it’s essential to find recipes that are family-friendly and come together quickly. Chicken Lasagna Soup fills the bill. If you take the extra step of broiling the mozzarella on top, it’s total cheesy comfort in a bowl!

Elise and Jesse Coleman and their three daughters have a farm in northeast Saskatchewan where they raise chickens and crops. Elise is also a full-time nurse, so meals need to be quick to prepare as well as kid-approved!

Bulgur Chicken Burgers offer something a little different but are still fun on a bun for little hands.

Tiffany Martinka and her husband Lane and her family have a grain and broiler chicken farm in northeast Saskatchewan. Between the farm, three active kids and a strong social media presence, Tiffany keeps very busy.

Tiffany is a proud chicken farmer this recipe for Chicken Cutlets with Sage Brown Butter Mayo is a great way to show off her favourite ingredient in a restaurant-worthy meal that can be made at home.

Cameron Evesque

While Cameron Evesque has been involved in agriculture his whole life, he’s new to chicken farming. He raises about 26,000 birds on his farm in central Saskatchewan. He likes growing quality food for Canadians!

Cameron says even though there’s nothing he likes better than a great meal, his cooking skills still need work. This meal is still within his reach! A little fancy, but the oven does most of the work. Try it yourself: Herb Roasted Chicken with Cranberry Barley Pilaf.
