Soup is an excellent choice for lunch, dinner or even a midnight snack!
No matter the weather, a comforting bowl of soup can really hit the spot. It can often be a bit daunting to pick what kind of soup to make when the possibilities are literally endless.
We’ve developed this handy guide to help you choose what type of soup to make based on which Canadian ingredients you have in your fridge, pantry and freezer.
This is a loose guide meant to be customized and expanded upon. Oftentimes, the best homemade soups are made without a recipe, so get creative and throw your favourite Canadian ingredients into the pot and see what happens!
We suggest serving a hot bowl of soup with a fresh piece of buttered bread. A side salad always pairs well, too. Soups freeze well and make for excellent lunches for kids when packed into a leak-proof insulated thermos.
